I support one person on patreon, and it's because they make good tutorials for beginners. I found them on youtube where they have a number of free tutorial videos, so I know what their content is like, and their patreon offers more content plus exclusive extras like prints of their work.

It seems like the more followers you have on your free content, the more likely you are to have people support you on patreon. If you don't have a following yet, I'd probably look at developing that and seeing what kind of content people respond to. Tutorials, challenges, and sped-up videos of people creating art tend to do well on youtube. If you have an instagram or youtube account, keep your art separate from your personal stuff. I unfollow anyone who posts drama or a million pictures of themselves because I only want to see art. It also helps if you have regular posts, so if you have weeks where you might create three pieces and then weeks where you create none, space out your posting and post some progress shots even if you've already finished a piece. That keeps you in people's feeds.

I hope that helps.
