And I have no idea how I feel about it because I’m expecting damn near everything I saw to be retconned in the next movie..

I guess Marvel could have decided to clean house.

Even back-up back-ups weren’t safe.

There were 8 previews beforehand. Hawkeye and Ant-Man were mentioned but not present. You did have to keep up with, like, thirty characters. There were several interesting groupings. There was lots of fighting and different locations. It was very chaotic, though that sort of fit the story. There was a dysfunctional family competition. There were comments on hair and beards.

I'm preetttttttty sure it's all going to get retconned.

A lot of people are saying that the characters who are left behind at the end of the movie are in much *more* danger, and I think that's probably true.

Definitely retconned. At least from the looks of that Marvel-ous post-credits scene. Maybe.

It makes sense that those left behind could be screwed. I wonder what exactly Stephen Strange saw... since apparently, this is the way it must be for victory.

One of the deaths was a punch to the heart though. Spider-Man may be the strongest among the Avengers, but there are moments you're reminded he's still just a kid. I wasn't shocked by any of the deaths but that one hurt.

Yeah, probably. Maybe they're setting up for a real sacrifice in the next one because that was a serious theme during the movie. Like, maybe in order to set things back and destroy the gauntlet, they have to sacrifice someone for each stone or something.

I knew things were going to be retconned when they took out Spider-Man, most of the GotG, Black Panther and Doctor Strange, all of whom had very successful movies and several of whom have sequels already announced. Also, Black Widow has a movie actively in development, so I think she's likely safe. But everyone else who was left may be in a lot of danger in the next Avengers movie, which is where I think most of the permanent deaths are going to happen.

And I'm OK with that. There's always fic for fix-its, and I think it's fitting that the original Avengers team come full circle.

I sat through two and a half hours waiting for freaking iron man and captain America to die. And you take my precious Peter Parker instead? Ah well, second best characters Thor and the trash rabbit were safe at least

I'm not upset. We all know Peter Parker will be back for his next movie in July 2019. He's pretty safe, unlike most of the characters who survived the snap.

I'm angry about Groot. Fuck that, Rocket lost him twice?

GOTG is the reason I went to see the movie at all. Every character I care about except one got snuffed and I'm fucking mad, but mostly I'm mad about Groot.

Since they'll all be back for GotG 3, I can't get worked up over any of it.

So I'll just sit here and twiddle my thinbs until Bobby gets out of the shower.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I want a Ben Solo backstory movie/set of movies.

On one hand, they already tried that with Vader. It went poorly, and he was more interesting than Ben to start out with.

On the other, at least Ben's never had a girlfriend to stalk relentlessly, and we ought to be spared any monologues about the fucking sand.

On Luke's creepy robot hand, I'm not sure replacing the monologues with Ben holed up in his room listening to Linkin' Space Park and practicing his junior Death Eater shtick is really an improvement.

so as I understand it, there's 2 different Star Trek movies currently in development - a 4th movie with the Kelvin-timeline crew with Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Chris Hemsworth returning as Kirk's father with some time-travel shenanigans, directed by SJ Clarkson, and then another, separate movie that will presumably have a different cast that's being produced by Quentin Tarantino.

This is honestly all very weird news and I'm not sure what to think about any of it but hey, new Trek is new Trek.

Get Tarantino the fuck away from Star Trek, ugh.

It's suuuuuuch a bizarre pairing, I can't even picture what the heck it's going to be like

Has anyone seen this? My mother bought the dvds, and I watched some with her. I'm usually not into older British shows as they tend to be too slow for me. But this was really enjoyable. And I felt like it dealt with some really intense issues that I wouldn't have expected of a early 90s show set post-WWII.
