I would LOVE to be able to hand out 20 such thank yous! I have a few awesome readers who comment on every chapter, but I'm lucky if I get more of a response beyond that.

I don't think it's hypocritical. We choose to write long stories and put them out there for others' enjoyment, and most will enjoy (or not) without saying a word. No one's under any obligation to comment, it's like a nice bonus if they do. That's how I look at it, anyway. You could do a A/N thank you to everyone who left comments if you don't want to answer each one individually, at least? ....guess that wouldn't work for a one-shot though...
