I would say just leave a comment or a kudos or whatever you feel like really

Don't invest so much into this gratitude economy to the point where you imbue comments with a special uniqueness or something

But! BUUUUUUUUUUT...! The author must be put in their place for not being a replier to all! That'll learn 'em, that will.

It's the same sentiment which says that readers who leave kudos instead of comments are LITERAL MONSTERS

Except you're indulging in amusing hyperbole and people don't really say that, but OP definitely is withholding comments based on which authors reply to their reviews.

People have said some pretty wild shit about kudos on here, man

It's definitely hyperbole but not that much

NAYRT

Seriously. I've commented that I consider kudos' basically a 'I liked this, thanks!' equivalent and I love them, and got smashed by some people because they're 'lazy' and 'worthless' and if people really liked fic they would take the time to comment. *exaggerated Peter Hale eye roll*

yes seriously why do you have to engage in a gratitude-off with a stranger you have never interacted with. what happened to writing comments because you feel like expressing something

THIS. Whenever I leave a comment, it's because I can't not leave a comment. I'm a fangirl. My enthusiasm needs the outlet of that little comment box. I'm not doing it because I feel obligated or because I expect gratitude or even a discussion with the author. I'm commenting because OMG IT WAS AWESOME AND I HAVE STUFF TO SAY ABOUT IT AHHHHHHH.

DA

That's what I really miss on my fics lately! Kudos are great and all but I don't know if the person is just casually clicking or OMGWOW!clicking it. So I assume it's the former :(

another DA

I only leave kudos for fic I enjoyed. Agreeing with the above poster, if the fic was that good imo, then I may very well comment. Most times, I can't be arsed to sign in and post so....kudos!

You don't need to be signed in to post. I leave tons of anon comments on fics I liked.
