People who block the aisles at grocery stores with their shopping cart. Seriously, how do you not realize what an asshat you're being? Today I saw an older woman in a mobility scooter and her husband who had a cart and BOTH of them were blocking every aisle they went down. I don't want to pick on the handicapped, but this lady had her scooter parked DIAGONALLY across the aisle while she chatted with the free sample person for five minutes.

In those cases of mobility scooters, I can't help but feel it's intentional. Or at least a subconscious plea for attention.

In this specific case, maybe. She did variations all over the store and her husband was almost as bad. They'd stop to look at something and park dead center of the aisle, or he'd be over just enough to block the few feet she'd left clear. I skipped aisles just to get ahead of them because I kept running into their clueless asses every two minutes.

oh my goooodddd this has become my biggest pet peeve and I'm so damn sick of it. people who park their cart in the middle of the goddamn aisle and then walk off to look at things on the shelf 20 feet away. I have no idea how people started doing this and thinking it was okay. I've done my own grocery shopping for 30 years and this has only really been a thing in the last...five years maybe?

Oh no, definitely not a recent thing. I wish!

All I'm reading is "I'm mad at someone for not moving even though I never asked them to move".

I use a mobility aid myself, and I know that I often block hallways/aisles/doorways/whatever else. No matter where I park myself, I am blocking something. In a shop, if I'm against the shelf, I'm blocking the shelf that people might want to get to. If I move then I'm in the aisle. Hell, that's if I even fit in the aisle to begin with.

I don't have eyes in the back of my head or telepathy. I often get people doing that shitty loud cough thing behind me or trying to physically push me out of the way. Try asking. Just. Pretend that we are able-bodied if you're struggling with the idea of how to approach the situation.
