* they want a fancy wedding/honeymoon that they can't afford so you should pay for it

I don't have a problem with Patreon because the market, even for a lot of professional artists, can be crap.

I’ve never yet been in the position of not being able to afford a pet, but I get why someone might suddenly not be able to afford a pet they’ve had for awhile; they could lose their job or benefits or something and not be able to find a good safe new home for their pet—not every shelter is no kill. And that’s not even touching a pet suddenly being diagnosed with cancer or something.

I think the wedding/honeymoon thing is dumb but so are people who spend tons of their own money/go into debt to finance a wedding or honeymoon. FFS, use that money as a down-payment on a house.

I could afford my pet. For almost 11 years. Then I was unemployed for two months. I got another job, but it pays less. And I still was okay until my cat was diagnosed with cancer. I've paid $1000 so far on my own, but if I weren't too embarrassed, I would consider asking for help, because that is extraordinary circumstances all on top of each other that I wasn't expecting.

What's wrong with Patreon?
