First thing in the morning there's generally not anything to do yet. The previous day's tasks are finished the previous day, so unless there's an especially large project (which only happens a few times a year, and when it does, I'll absolutely work on it when I'm asked to come in early) there's not anything to do. My day to day tasks are pretty much always the same, but they depend on other people doing specific things first. So until Joe does X or Carol does Y, there's not anything for me to do.
