It just occurred to me that a suggestion on FS to try Meetup.com changed my life. I had no friends in my area. None. Now I have several, just because on a similar thread one day I said I wished there was a friendship version of Match.com.

That's awesome! I looked into Meetup.com, but every group in my city was either barely active, or was something that didn't apply to me, like the Anesthesiologists Group or the Southeast Asian Entrepreneurs Group.
