Probably shouting into the void at this time, but this thread is here and I need to rant about something petty, so...

This novel I just started reading has an interesting premise, the characters intrigue me, and I really want to know where this is going.
But every time anybody says anything to someone else, they address them by name. Multiple times within a conversation. Even if no-one else is in the room.

I knew I find this mildly annoying when people do that IRL, but I didn't know just how much this could grate on my nerves.
I think I could live with it if it was a character quirk. Or a family quirk. But every single character does it. All the time. I don't think I'll be finishing this book...
