Honestly...I love how he died. It reminded me of Anya's death in BTVS. There was nothing...'pretty' about it. It was brutal and really showed the cost of war.

I can actually appreciate that point of view because I DID like that he died a hero rather than a chronic backstabber like everyone (well, non-Loki fans) seemed to be desperate for him to do.

I think I just wish it had been later on and more of the other Avengers had got the opportunity to see this guy who fucked up their shit bizarrely being on their side now.

Also poor Thor. A lot of Loki fandom (the ones concentrating just on Loki) seems to be forgetting Thor in all this :(

I'm not sure hero is ever the right word for Loki. He's a mischievous little bugger who just has limits. Thanos, Hela, and the elves are limits for him. But the closest he gets to hero is anti-hero because he'd still betray Thor in a heartbeat if it was in his own best interest.

Oh yeah for sure I agree he's never been 100% pure hero. But he didn't die a villain either so that's more what was satisfying for me. Going back to his Avengers villain persona would've been more disappointing than him dying for me tbh.

Oh, yes, agreed. Loki is too complicated for that. And he's changed, he's grown, in his last few appearances. Plus, in Avengers he was working with Thanos against Earth. That's different from helping a Thanos who just killed his own people. He clearly cares for Asgard and its people.

I'm still bitter we didn't see Anya's death. At least we saw Loki's.

Well, you see her die. It is just quick and brutal and exactly what you'd expect in a real war. Not everyone gets a heroic death.

Do we? I haven't watched season 7 in a while, but all I remember is seeing her dead body.

Yeah, she gets slashed thru with a sword.

Anya's death was brilliant. It was definitely war. And since we know there's an afterlife in Buffy, and Anya was human for real and no longer a demon, I like that she gets to go to heaven and chill where there are NO BUNNIES.

YES, this is exactly what ran through my mind as well! It was a casualty and nothing else, which makes it all the more brutal.
