* readily available, relatively cheap food tends to be high in fat, sugar and carbs
* this includes fast food and most restaurants but also convenience foods which also come in large portions
* very sedentary lifestyles
* most people don't know how to cook properly, so making meals for themselves that are both cheap AND healthy seems impossible, they don't even know where to begin and it feels pointless when you can just hit up Taco Bell or McDonalds dollar menu.
