You might have a point with illegal sites, but not the other paid streaming.

And the only reason I say might, is that combating piracy does probably factor some way into the cost of every show, like shoplifting and trying to prevent it factor into retail store prices. But I very much doubt that is a make or break amount.

What keeps a show on the air is combination of factors - ratings (which is Nielsen families watching live basic and cable plus DVR playback within 3 or 7 days (not everyone watching), possibly On Demand, and possibly streaming), show cost, hype, awards, sponsorship, network relationship with show producers, etc.
