I still love seeing this sort of cultural goof crop up in stories, because you're right, OP-- it is heartwarming. It's like the creator really internalized those characters from another culture into their own heart, and I can't help but love that. <3

I love that this attitude is increasing, just joyfully accepting the fact that people experience fiction through the lens of the world they live in and that has an effect on their fic writing. And everyone being willing to explore that. Instead of cornering people with condescending lectures on all the nitpicky things they're doing wrong.
