I can get why it might seem strange at first and also that some Americans might not "get" it even after giving it a try. But there's loads of actual Europeans who express disbelief that people enjoy it every year. You can't move for them complaining on social media!

Overall. yes this attitude is kind of annoying. Do you like laughing at 2-3 minute pop songs that range from terrible to actually ok to so bad they're funny? Do you like OTT costumes and staging? Would you enjoy playing a game of "guess who is going to give 12 points to their neighbours" along with "ooh which country gave them nothing so just pissed off an ally!"? You only really need to watch it once to "get" it.
