I think it's hilarious that people get super mad and defensive if you dare suggest that pot isn't a miracle funtimes drug.

I support the legalization of pot, but hate pretty much most everyone who is vocally supportive about the issue. Look, studies have said conflicting things about the dangers/benefits of smoking it, and no matter what the truth is, these people will not hear for even a second that pot isn't the perfect therapeutic, safe, non-addictive, happy drug. Any suggestion of word to the contrary is met with irrational denial.

Like all things, it has its good and bad sides.

It really annoys me that the people who support it being used for medicinal purposes speak about it like it's the miracle cure for everything and it has no downsides. It's a drug. It might have less severe side effects than another drug (awesome!) but there will still be people who have negative experiences and people who respond differently - as with all drugs. Denying that is some snake oil salesman bullshit.

I'm happy for people who have had positive experiences with it and found it helpful and I support further research into possible uses. Yay, science!

LOL, right? I support legalization and I don't care if people enjoy it recreationally. But people like to bullshit themselves about how wonderful and harmless it is and insist that it's not addictive. It's still a drug, people. It's as if admitting that there might be drawbacks or long term repercussions personally hurts them and if you bring up those possibilities they react like you attacked them personally.

There's a difference between physical and psychological addiction. Marijuana is not physically addictive, in that a moderate-to-heavy user can quit cold turkey without the physiological withdrawal symptoms associated with quitting other drugs, like caffeine, nicotine, alcohol and heroin, cold turkey. Is it psychologically addictive? Certainly, to some people. So is the internet, reading smut fics, and scratch-off lottery tickets.

More importantly, though, weed smoke stinks. And the aura of stale weed smoke that surrounds stoners is as nasty as the worst BO.

Edibles, too.

I agree, and I'm very pro-pot. Marijuana isn't for everyone and should be treated as such.

I support full legalization for both medicinal and recreational marijuana. But I've never tried it and won't for recreation and if it was recommended for medical reasons for me (if it was fully legal), I would probably just get an edible. Smoking it can cause issues with your lungs and it stinks. But beyond that, in some people it can cause anxiety or psychosis. Plus, the more common symptoms of dizziness, drowsiness, and short-term memory loss. I do think that, for many people, that side effects are less detrimental than a lot of already legal things, but it's not perfect, nor should people expect it to be.
