I know it’s a bureaucratic thing, but you’d think they’d let you donate to someone old.

Or skin grafts at least? My dad was in the same situation, and they wouldn't even take skin tissue. Surely it's not so communicable skin grafts would pass it on.

Technically, unless you're donating brain tissue or CSF it wouldn't be a problem, but the medical community has decided to be ridiculous about it.

Where are you? In Australia, I can't give blood but I can donate organs and platelets.

The US. I've spent enough cumulative time in the UK since I have family there that I'm disqualified from pretty much everything. When my Dad died they wouldn't even take skin.

Huh. I had no clue about organ donation, but as a Brit living in France they won't take my blood for fear of mad cow...
