I understand what you mean. I will always feel a little stung that movie Hermione a) didn't keep her hair bushy and b) fixed her buck teeth (I probably would have too, but still). Among her characteristics, the fact that she has bushy hair and was not conventionally attractive made her more relatable (at least to me).

Same.

TBH, I never saw Hermoine in the books as unattractive. I just saw her as an average girl.

Matthew Lloyd was too attractive to play Neville in the end but who's to say Neville wasn't attractive?

I agree about Hermione being average. I think book!Hermione is average looking because she puts no effort into finding pretty or even well fitted clothes, doing her hair, putting on makeup, or trying to flirt with boys. If she did any of those things, then she might not be as pretty as Emma Watson, but the boys would probably notice her like Krum did. However, book!Hermione is completely consumed by school work, keeping Harry alive, and fighting against wizard Hitler, so any “free” time she had during the books that might have been spent prettying herself up was used for sleep and S.P.E.W. Movie!Hermione kept her time turner after PoA to give her time to do her hair and makeup every morning.

Movie!Hermione should have reflected more of that "she puts no effort into her appearance" aspect of Hermione's personality because that's a big part of who she is. They could have at least kept her hair big like in Chamber of Secrets if they didn't want it to be a bushy mess like Socrer's Stone. In the Deathly Hallow movies they didn't even bother with a perm.

Neville’s casting was perfect because he started out dumpy and awkward af and then became Clive Owen right when it was time to be The Almost Chosen One, leading a resistance and flat-out telling Voldemort to eat a dick. Justice for the nerdy fat kid at every angle!

Matthew Lloyd was fair enough - he looked perfect as a first year. No-one knows how a child's going to grow up (and I don't think we ever get a physical description of Neville as a Sixth year bad ass, do we?)
