What are people currently flipping out over in your fandom?

(Anonymous) 2018-05-21 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
positively or negatively

The Thundercats reboot. The animation industry is so unprofessional lol

I honestly thought that it was a joke or a oneshot parody, but looks like it's not.

Is it that bad? Is it the art? The story? Or both?

It's a comedy focused reboot of an action series. The animation isn't terrible, but the art style is a vast departure from the realistic anatomy of the 80s series and 2011 reboot, which itself is a sore subject as got canceled because of executive meddling, not lack of popularity.

Re: What are people currently flipping out over in your fandom?

(Anonymous) 2018-05-21 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Bullshit. It was canceled because no one watched it. Do you know how no one watched it? All the grown men whining about this reboot are mentioning the 80s version and not the 2011 one.

Also, this series is for children. So it is made in a style people know kids love.

Scroll to the bottom.

And then why reboot it at all if you're not going to appeal somewhat to the original audience? Wouldn't make more sense to just make an entirely new show?

You don't know how these kinds of things work. The reason ANYONE reboots or remakes something is because they have a built in IP to work with. And they don't care about the adults. They care about the kids of those adults. Those kids are the ones who will be clamoring for the toys. And kids love this style of art.

And that is the silliest version of meddling I have seen. And just proves that the adults that watched it were not buying the merch. That is what they care about. Merchandise. That is why Disney handles everything they do in regards to Marvel and MCU.

TTG is also for children.

The only reason children watch it is because it's on so fucking often that hardly anything else is. (Like legit, I have asked children if they like it. They hate it because it's stupid and mean-spirited.)

There is also going to be a She-ra reboot on Netflix.

I've seen the occasional in-denial post of Loki being perma-dead in IW flitting across my dash on occasion, but I'd say that's less flipping out and more mourning a loved character.

Oh I have seen more more srs posts about people being salty about all of Ragnarok getting nullified in 10 mins in IW, which I get because I am sad about Asgard and it's people being gone for good as well.

They are not gone for good. At least half of them will come back.

I think that everyone before the snap is actually dead, but I will happily be proven wrong on that. I don't want to loose all of Asgard and Heimdall(and Loki too, the little shit-head), but I'm not going to hold out hope for it either.

We'll see what comes of it anyway.

On a similar note, I've seen a lot of people angry about Gamora getting "fridged". And while I can see where people arguing that are coming from, as a comic book nerd I'm getting particularly irked how nobody's brought up that in the original Infinity Gauntlet storylines, Gamora is killed by Thanos as well and ends up in the Soul Stone. She then finds a way out of the Soul Stone and helps defeat Thanos. Obviously they've changed a lot of elements from the comics, but the essentials are still there.

Again, this is all me being a comic book nerd and shit, but I'm getting annoyed at how no one's considering the possibility that her "death" could be setup for her to play a role in defeating Thanos, since that's how it played out in the comics.

I think it could still play out that way, since we didn't see more than the fall off the cliff. Techinically, a number of things could have happened that the audience didn't see.

I'll be honest I hated her death, but I just really like her so that's at least part of it, and in that moment I feel so, so bad for her. I knew she wasn't going to get away, but holy fuck did I want it to happen and I'll take any way she can come back tbh. Time-reversal, she fucks shit up within the soul-gem and kicks Thanos' butt. Anything.

But I'm mostly waiting for part 2 to see who really stays dead before I have my full thoughts on it.

Yeah I liked Infinity War but I feel a lot of my opinion on it is going to be affected by how IW2 plays out.

Honestly, the more I think about how much fun the continued adventures of the Revengers could have of been if not for Infinity War, the more I hate IW. We were fucking robbed.

Yeah I understand the gripe because it is a shame.

I just more made my peace with it a while back because I knew it was going to play out like this. People can be angry I won't tell them not to be, but I'm just more resigned with it.

When isn't the Star Wars fandom flipping out over something? Right now it is the existence of Solo from certain fans who won't even see it and yet are complaining about it. Also still a lot of flipping out over Last Jedi from a few loud fans.

Steven Universe fandom was flipping out about Cartoon Network releasing a few scenes from unaired episodes in a promotional video/podcast. The clips contained massive spoilers for the end of the season (if not series). Lately I've been seeing more memes about the reveal at the end of the last aired episode.
