I know; it's annoying...but unlikely to change. Give US media a miss, really.

British Isles television is much better, because while never ugly, actors and particularly actresses in their media are at least allowed to look normal-ish.

You should focus on shows from the British Isles, or continental Europe, too. Avoid German soap operas, though. They're the worst when it comes to people who look like Barbie and Ken dolls.

Agreed. I think British television doesn't have quite the same rigid adherence to casting people for looks vs. acting talent. People look more normal... women actually have wrinkles and they're not always a size zero!
