Re: It's Spring! Pros and Cons

Pro—the sweet peas I despaired of since September are going apeshit, one of my roses is blooming like crazy despite having some kind of rust fungus going on.

Con—the fleas are back. My water bill is creeping up as everything dries up. My hens want to hatch eggs despite no rooster in residence, so they’ve been hopping fences to lay eggs in shrubbery and lead to neighbors contantly going “hey your chickens are out.”

OOh, peas. :D And roses are so nice! But too fussy to care for, for me.

Omg, fleas. They suck so hard. And i'm so allergic to the bites. Heee! Rogue hens!

Hybrid roses are way too fussy, yeah. But if you don't mind the fact that there's little to no fragrance, the Knockout Roses that are ubiquitous at every garden center are fairly low maintenance and very pretty.

Fleeeeas. We've finally gotten them under control recently but I'm dreading the inevitable comeback now the weather's getting warmer. :(

Argh holy shit same anon and my poor crippled hen (her legs don’t work because fuck cancer and she’s undersized and scrawny) just laid her first ever egg—no shell, just membrane, white, and yolk, but still ouch it was nearly full size unlike her. The vet and I were hoping she’d be sterile and now I’m worried she’ll die before her first birthday (June 5th.)
