Who do you want to see films by?

Fantasy adventure! I know we've had a revival with LOTR and The Hobbit franchises and there's always GoT on cable, but I'd like to see more standalone fantasy films like we had in the 80s.

But not remakes. New materials! Only remakes if the original was complete shit!

Westerns. I'd especially love to see more like ones that are about someone other than a cigar chewing, grizzled white guy.

Yessssss, westerns. I enjoyed the remake of The Magnificent Seven, more than I thought I would, to be honest.

Try these movies: Slow West, True Grit (remake), and Meek's Cutoff.

Slow West is a lot of fun! Super colorful. Reminds me of a Wes Anderson film.

If it was a western with something magic/alien/steampunk or something, I'd be down. I actually enjoyed Cowboys and Aliens. And scifi westerns are great.

Slow West has some fantasy elements. It is like a Wes Anderson style Western.

Fantasy and/or scifi that isn't part of a larger fandom. Just great standalone movies with fun worldbuilding.

Fuck franchises (although obviously I understand the financial logic behind them)

I like franchises too. But there are not enough scifi/fantasy standalones. Edge of Tomorrow was so great and stood up on its own without needing anything else (fuck the upcoming sequel). I want more of that.

Yeah, I don't mind sequels or series, so much.

But, like, to me, part of the idea of a franchise is that you go into it intending to make it a franchise, and I think that's what bothers me - where you're already planning the spinoff movies and the crossovers and everything before the first movie even comes out. The only good thing about franchises is when the first movie flops and the franchises die. Like with the Dark Universe thing.

YES! We need more fucking sci-fi.

I just want romantic comedies with people who are beyond their twenties and/or relatively average-looking to come back.

I don't care much for romcoms but I would love one about a normal guy in his 40s meets a normal woman in her 40s and they have a nice romance. They could be divorced or windowed. Kids or no kids doesn't matter. BUT no one is quirky, no grandpa looking guy and teen age looking girl, no weird fetishes or secrets, just a nice funny story about how two people normal flawed people met and fell in love.

I would pay good money to see such a movie.

The French film Tout le monde debout might be for you. Well, it’s a French romcom so no quirkiness is maybe a judgment call.

Musicals with classic long-cut dance choreography, and without filling in slots with bankable stars who bring great comedy chops but weak singing (Yes, that's a Momma Mia gripe.)

That annoys me, too. And I especially don't want anyone who needs to be autotuned.

Pirate movies, which is more of an old trend than a genre, but still
