Honestly before he had the gauntlet I want to know how he even knew he was killing off 'half a planet', did he individually count them up before murdering them? Because with how we saw Gamora's people fighting back I find it hard to believe that he actually got the exact numbers right while they were resisting.

Also that's a lot of people to murder if their planets are even half as populated as ours, so how long would it have taken him to even do this effectively?

All around that part of his story reaaaaaally falls to pieces if you scratch at it too hard.

And yeah I agree with the general sentiment that when you have an all-powerful gauntlet that you can do anything with, why not make sure the people have the resources they need? Fix the biospheres of the planets? Replenish the wildlife? Like it can do whatever the hell you want so there are no limits.

I got the impression he was just killing as many as he could before. He wanted to kill off half of planets, but as long as he didn't have the stones he couldn't. So he just killed as many as he could.

Ah that could be likely and he was just rounding up? :P

I just wondered if he did actually do the whole 'killing half of a whole planet' thing before he had the gauntlet because that would take a lot of work.

Hell it'd take a lot of work killing off a large percentage of any population without a magic gauntlet.
