So couldn’t Thanos just set fertility to replacement rate, or even lower? If he made it so humans (did he wipe out half the cockroaches? Half the narwhals? Half the toadstools?) could only each have one kid and then were sterile, that would cut population within a few generations because some people would die without reproducing, without killing existing people. Especially if he wiped out everyone living in America and maybe Japan and Western Europe plus the richest .1% every place else.
