Deviled eggs. Chili. Basically anything low effort and high volume.

It's hard to go wrong with deviled eggs. I have to stop myself from inhaling a half dozen of the little suckers every time I see them at a cookout.

Right? When I make them, not going to lie, I usually make extra and leave some at home. >.>

That's a very smart plan and I'm totally going to do that in the future!

*cough* But I rarely make deviled eggs at home because I end up eating too many before I take them to the party.

I will not judge. :3

Thank you. I try to hide my shameful egg-devouring from the world.

Chili is a good idea but otoh it leaves you open to endless stultifying arguments about what constitutes TRUE CHILI from megadorks

Re: It's summer cookout and potluck time!

Oh man, luckily that has NEVER come up for me! Is there a true chili fandom somewhere?!

Re: It's summer cookout and potluck time!

Oh, man, there are ENDLESS degrees of true chili fandom.

But I think it mostly breaks down to 3 big arguments - arguments about whether you should include beans or tomatoes or both or neither and how if it does or doesn't include those things it isn't TRUE CHILI, and arguments about how spicy it should be, and then the third main category of argument is just people from Texas talking about how Texas is the center of the universe and the only place in the world that knows what chili is.

Texas will keep on being Texas, lol.

I am in the beans+tomatoes camp I guess? But I will eat any chili, that's just how I make it. I love it spicy but usually tone it down if making it for other people.

Currently living against my will in Texas, and yes, absolutely true. Also expect horror if your recipe contains ground beef instead of intact tetrahedrons.

HA.
I hate legumes of every kind, so i prefer the non-bean chili, and i am a total wimp who does not like spicy (not even black pepper), so I fail at chili twice!

Heh.

Yes to all this. And then someone brings up Cincinnati chili and people really lose their shit.

I make deviled eggs a lot too. They're awesome.
