getting 'Our TOS has changed' emails? I have subscribed to a few online magazines (like Slate and The Advocate) and news sites, and i've been getting TOS emaails for weeks. Them, the one credit card i have, my bank, AT&T, just....

What happened?

EU changed a few laws, TOS's are updating to comply with them

It's because of new privacy laws in Europe.

GDPR

There's a GDPR that just passed in Europe and any company who has customers or operates there has to comply with the privacy standards set forth in it about collecting information, so a lot have decided to globally update their terms and are sending them out to everyone, regardless of where people live.

I saw all the privacy policy memes before I saw actual privacy policy change emails and thought I was getting played.

I would have thought that, too, if not for my work place. Things are changing a lot for us, both externally and internally, and there's been a lot of talk about it at the office. We're all getting schooled about the proper behaviour in the next couple of weeks, and worst of all, we don't get to use the internet at work anymore. :-(

Same...I think I got one before seeing a flood of references too them... Thought 'meh, it's not that bad', then... I actually still haven't gotten that many emails, but actually trying to do anything on the internet, or play mobile games keeps getting interrupted by them.
