My first thought with this dress and the live action Cinderella one with the horrible shiny material were that they were going with designs that were cheap to reproduce on a large scale for costumes. I noticed that the informal clothing and other character's formal dresses were a lot more detailed and interesting from a design point of view. Definitely explains the tacky butterfly things on the blue one and the super simple cut of this dress. It's meant to appeal to little girls who want to look princess-y.

I hate to be the one to break this news to you, but pretty much everyone loved the live action Cinderella's ballgown. It actually looked magical, unlike... well, this.

We know different people. My friends hated it too, I think the consensus was that it looks like an actual barbie dress. I kind of like how gigantic it was because it was amusing watching them try to dance around the skirt and seeing her sit on the super wide swing.

I hated the material on the Cinderella dress too, but at least the dress itself had a nice cut. This one's just a banana-colored disaster.

It does look like something off the rack that zips in the back from the way it fits in that picture.
