It's just a matter of taste. If it's not your thing, that's cool, too.

I like a variety of ships so I can understand liking stuff that's twisted/unhealthy as well as things that are more normal. It just depends on my mood.

106: That anime is exactly like the worst kind of crappy shoujo. I'm a BL/yaoi/slash fan, but I can still tell when something is utter rubbish.

Of course, that doesn't mean that I don't also despise the notion that certain sets of behaviour should be reserved for one gender. I welcome more varied roles for male characters, and I cheer everytime someone dares to give a male character a characteristic that traditionally has been considered "feminine".

128: I agree. Every fandom has its pockets of insanity, but if insanity's all you've seen, I suspect you willfully refuse to look at the fandom as a whole.

147: Many things I loved as a child were, in fact, childish and silly. It didn't stop me loving them, and it doesn't stop me from feeling nostalgic or having a soft spot for them even now. Not everything has to be Great Art for us to enjoy them. Even some things I've come to enjoy later in life have been silly and/or childish. They're still enjoyable.

151: Part of enjoying a god story has always meant talking about it afterwards, imagining what happens later, and wondering about unclear things in the story itself. It's been like this since I was little - now I just have more people to do this together with!

Assuming you meant it hypothetically and don't personally consider it a winning strategy? Okay, fair enough.

Yeah, she's with Tokyopop. I think we're thinking about the same girl.

If so, yeah, she's got that kind of attitude about her and I can totally see that type of scenario playing out with her. I do get sick of her looking down on people from time to time, but most of the time it's understandable when looking from things on her side. But the way she puts things and complains about them really makes her look stuck up and snooty (albeit, it can be pretty funny).

But.. yeah. I think she is a great, funny person and artist, but she does get this arrogant and better-than-you air about her that she should work on. As far as personal experiences go, I can't say I've had a problem with her whenever I met her nor have I seen her act/talk that way in person, but I CAN see it happening and I'm sorry you had to see her talk like that. :\ It's kind of disheartening to hear and experience.

Holy crap, I meant Rogers, I did. I don't even know why I typed Roberts. DX I didn't even notice that when I saw it up today! Oh, that's gonna drive me mad.

Green Lantern Kyle Rayner's girlfriend got chopped up and stuffed into a fridge-- which started a discussion about how women in comics often get killed or depowered to further the plot and ~manpain~ of the male protagonists (and how female superheroes, when depowered or killed generally don't get to come back the way their male counterparts do.)

That's... sort of the point of the "fridging" complaint. That the only female character exists solely to die and further Horrible's plot.

Do you not understand what fridging means? It's not just about summarily killing off "a character".

No, but being able to voice act doesn't mean you can act in a movie. They are different forms of acting.

This is why I cringe when Disney gets celebrities to voice act in dubs of Miyazaki movies. Being able to act doesn't always mean you can voice act, either.
