I guess that would be me. Granted, my 1st person stories tend to be one-shots under 3k words, but I've never had anyone tell me I should be writing in a different POV.

For the record, I'm fully aware that some readers despise 1st person, but I don't assume that they make up the "vast majority of readers."

I don't normally write first-person, but I have done so with one specific story, and it was very well received. It was needed for the story.

Also, I write for myself, and I share those fics that I feel like sharing. Like the fic, or don't, but "the vast majority of readers" hating something won't stop me from writing it. There are other things they can read if it's causing them pain.

I know there are people that dislike 1st and are extremely vocal about it, but you'll have to convince me it's a majority. I'm pretty sure 2nd person wins all the hate, and reader fics are still a thing in spite of that.

Also, even if there is this majority you speak if, who cares? People should write what they want. The minority is also allowed to have fics they like, too.

I've written first person fic that people liked, and I've read first person that I liked. shrug

Who don't know that lots of first person fics are enjoyable and well-written because the POV is only one aspect of the entire story??

if it's done well, I don't mind. But I generally wish it was tagged for. It kinda bugs me when I look for a "self insert" gif only to find that the author has indeed inserted themselves into the fic.
