Not great. Our offshore factory was closed because of political problems/riots. So all the people we have meetings with were staying home. The one meeting we did have was very long and boring.

Not bad, had a big meeting at work this morning that went well. Then I got a good performance review and a high five, lol.

I went out to get some folders I needed and bought a liquid lipstick I didn't(but the colour is exactly what I wanted so, I caved).

Other than that it's been sorting through junk to get rid of or give-away things I don't need.

tw: suicide

My wife said she wants to kill herself. She says she feels like a black hole of nothing and that nothing gives her pleasure or joy anymore and she can't see the point of continuing on in a world she hates and that hates her. I tried to tell her about all the ways she's exceptional and loving and lovable and she just rejects everything as a lie and says that she's a failure. She's been hospitalized once earlier this year for wanting to hurt herself but we're afraid if she goes back, she'll lose her job. I'm unemployed (have been looking for months and gotten nothing, even from shit places like Walmart) and we rely on her income to survive (and we barely scrape by, which is one of the things she is upset about, because it stresses her out so much). She says adamantly that she does NOT want to go back to the hospital but at this point, what can we do? Her doctor never called her back even though she called him this morning and his receptionist told her she'd tell him ASAP. I just want her to be safe but I don't know how to do that and have her keep the job we rely on to survive.

Take her to the emergency room. Please.

A couple of things to consider: Do your wife's employee benefits include an Employee Assistance Program? (Many employers do, but they tend not to be widely advertised.) If so, she might have access to free, confidential mental health assistance of some kind (counseling sessions, etc.). She might also qualify for disability. Also, does she qualify for FMLA? If so, and she goes through the appropriate HR channels, it gets a lot harder for the company to fire her.

Also, if you haven't already, sign up with a couple of staffing agencies https://www.betterteam.com/staffing-agencies

It doesn't cost you anything, and the agencies only make money off you if they hire you out, so they're highly incentivized to find you a job.

Does your wife have insurance through an HMO like Kaiser? (They have a member helpline and can sometimes get a hold of their doctors directly.) Even if not, if you call a suicide hotline on her behalf they may be able to find info on the (il)legality of firing someone because they were hospitalized. I dunno if your wife would be okay with internet hugs from a stranger, but (hugs) to you and to her. Best of luck.

Well, my surgery is pushed off for at least a week. My insurance is being a dick about covering it. Which means I had to email my boss and work it out so I'm back at work this week and taking next week off. And I have to deal with pain for another week. And all the other things I have to reschedule now. Fucking insurance.

Sounds like I'll be going to court on Wednesday, though, so that's cool. And I watched a couple episodes of Stargate: SG! with my dad. They were great, classic episodes, so that was fun. And now I'm going to bed, and I really, really need to sleep.
