Re: The gripe thread

It’s not that I hate my job. My job is very tolerable and I don’t want to fail to appreciate that. It’s just that I hate having to do anything at all because I’m just so lazy. So so lazy. The longer I can go without doing anything other than whatever I feel like, the happier and more clear-headed I am. Most people I know say they would go crazy with restlessness or boredom if they had no job, no school, nothing. But I can’t empathize with that even in the least. I wish I knew some more people who were like me where 100% free time equals max happiness.

It's one of those things that seems like it would be great but I guarantee you you'd be going crazy after a few months. I used to feel the same way until I ended up unemployed for a little over a year due to health reasons. The first couple of months were awesome - I could do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted without any obligations to get in the way. I binge-watched all the TV shows I'd never had time to check out before and read all of the books on my 'To Read' list, but after that, it got really boring really fast.

My husband is like you and I 100% believe you wouldn't get bored because he doesn't. Some people are just like that. I'm the exact opposite so it works out ok for us most of the time. And he does work because he has to. If ever we were to like win the lottery or something, we'd buy a bigger house, hire someone to clean it, and he'd quit his job. The only change in my life would be that he's home all the time and I wouldn't have to do as much housework. But I'd still do some because I don't do idle.

*fistbump* I'm with you, friend. If I were independently wealthy, I'd love it. All the time in the world to pursue my hobbies? Fuck yeah! I'd travel the world, or even if I stayed at home not doing a damn thing unless I wanted to, I'd be over the moon.

I usually can find things to do to keep from getting too bored even though I'm unemployed (I'm on disability). The two big drawbacks for me are the fact that I don't make much money on disability and I feel very useless sometimes.
