The gripe thread

Got a gripe? Any gripe? Post it here!

My work is dumb because the people in charge have never done the jobs that the rest of the employees do and they have no idea what they're doing when they implement new policy. It's so frustrating.

Job problems. Hopefully not for long because I love my new job. :(

It’s not that I hate my job. My job is very tolerable and I don’t want to fail to appreciate that. It’s just that I hate having to do anything at all because I’m just so lazy. So so lazy. The longer I can go without doing anything other than whatever I feel like, the happier and more clear-headed I am. Most people I know say they would go crazy with restlessness or boredom if they had no job, no school, nothing. But I can’t empathize with that even in the least. I wish I knew some more people who were like me where 100% free time equals max happiness.

So... what would you do if you didn’t hsbe to work? Sleep and eat and watch movies?

DA

That is great! That's the best!

It's one of those things that seems like it would be great but I guarantee you you'd be going crazy after a few months. I used to feel the same way until I ended up unemployed for a little over a year due to health reasons. The first couple of months were awesome - I could do whatever I wanted whenever I wanted without any obligations to get in the way. I binge-watched all the TV shows I'd never had time to check out before and read all of the books on my 'To Read' list, but after that, it got really boring really fast.

My husband is like you and I 100% believe you wouldn't get bored because he doesn't. Some people are just like that. I'm the exact opposite so it works out ok for us most of the time. And he does work because he has to. If ever we were to like win the lottery or something, we'd buy a bigger house, hire someone to clean it, and he'd quit his job. The only change in my life would be that he's home all the time and I wouldn't have to do as much housework. But I'd still do some because I don't do idle.

Are you me, anon!?

*fistbump* I'm with you, friend. If I were independently wealthy, I'd love it. All the time in the world to pursue my hobbies? Fuck yeah! I'd travel the world, or even if I stayed at home not doing a damn thing unless I wanted to, I'd be over the moon.

I usually can find things to do to keep from getting too bored even though I'm unemployed (I'm on disability). The two big drawbacks for me are the fact that I don't make much money on disability and I feel very useless sometimes.

My tattoo's itchy. :( At least it's more-or-less entirely pealed, so that shouldn't last much longer, but sometimes I feel like I'm addicted to my lubriderm. BUR NEEDS ANOTHER HIT OF LOTION. BUR NEEDS HER FIX.

Ugh. Annoying.

My phone's almost out of battery and I want to lie in bed and use it but the charger cord isn't long enough. :(

Re: The gripe thread

(Anonymous) 2018-06-06 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
The cord is NEVER long enough. D:

Re: The gripe thread

(Anonymous) 2018-06-06 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
That's why I got a long charger and an extension cord.

Re: The gripe thread

(Anonymous) 2018-06-06 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
I put mine on a super long extension cord and it can go anywhere in the room with me now.

:D

and I have only tripped over the cord twice.

Boooo.

My bed is right next to the outlet!

Though admittedly my room is very small with two outlets so pretty much anywhere I could put my bed would be next to an outlet.

There's a youngling on a fanfiction discord I hang out on who irritates the shit out of me.

All day long they are asking for help with every line, every plot point, every bit of research. In a year of frequenting the discord, I've seen them help someone else, ONCE. A one line response, then, "Are you done?" because they wanted to people to help them with their fic again.

I realize that them asking so much gives other people the opportunity to help, but for the amount of handholding and coddling they get, every story ought to have 30 co-authors credited.

(I've already blocked them so that I won't see their posts, and I have adjusted the time I hang on the discord to hours when they're generally not active.)

And yes, I'm probably being unreasonable, but I was offered the change to gripe, and so I am griping.

Re: The gripe thread

(Anonymous) 2018-06-06 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
This sounds perfectly reasonable to me. I hope someone sits them down and tells them how annoying this habit is and how they need to do more of their own work instead of bugging people all the time. This person is exactly the kind of person you hope not to get stuck with doing group work.

I'm so fucking tired and angry. I talked about the whole insurance issue with my surgery yesterday. But it turns out that they are claiming my doctor isn't in network (she is, or she has been as of my last appointment with her a month ago that they covered just fine) and that even when they get the authorization they want from my PCP, they may not cover the surgery at all.

Damn it. I need this surgery badly. I shouldn't have to keep dealing with pain just because my insurance company is terrible.

I "gave up" and decided to try online dating because I was having zero luck with the irl kind, and I finally found the like ONE guy in my area who both is cute and seems to be compatible with me in interests/personality type. So of course he's stopped replying to my messages. GAH.
