I tell people who've asked me that the reason I don't want to see the Han Solo movie is because I don't really like Han Solo as a character (this actually true), but the real reason is because the actor they cast as young HS looks NOTHING like Harrison Ford and and it just...takes me out of the moment.

Whenever a new character "like me" pops up in something, people always point them out to me and it's cool and all. Representation, I guess? But they're always written from an outsider's perspective of what it's like to be one of us. Every moment is constructed for the audience to identify with the "normal" people who are interacting with them. I can't connect at all with this shallow idea other people have of what and who we are.

"but everyone like you is different!" they say. Exactly my point. I could feel more of a connection with someone like me if they had completely different views and a different way of interacting with the world than I do. They would at least feel more like a real person to me than all of these characters being created with their entire characterisation being "they are this" and nothing else. A condition is not a personality. That is lazy writing.

I hate people headcanoning my favourite characters with my particular disability and writing long posts about it that people never tag. I don't like my disability, it really hinders my life, I don't want to be reminded of it with my favourite characters.

I recently caved and downloaded Mystic Messenger last week, and holy shit, I did not realize the actual extent of how impossible it is to play this game casually. So I guess now I'm the kind of person who plays dating sims literally 24/7? Oops.

Weirdness from watching movies where actors got together

Sometimes, when I watch a movie where I know the actors got together during or just after filming, I'll feel a little weird about any romantic scenes. Especially if the couple has broken up. It doesn't always happen, usually I'm swept up in the movie, but sometimes the thought occurs. So, Cruel Intentions, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Scream, The Amazing Spider-Man, etc.

As you all know, I started a job recently that I love. It is something I've never done but am getting the hang of.

We create a specific item and the company has been around for 50+ years. We manufacture our goods in Nicaragua with a factory we own and operate. I am a production planner coordinating between sales and the factory. I have two coworkers and my boss (who have all been there longer).

If you've been reading the news, Nicaragua has been having political unrest for the past 2 months or so. A couple weeks ago, our factory was closed for a couple days because of how dangerous it was to travel. This week they have been closed two days so far. If they are closed tomorrow, our week is basically fucked. This is on top of six months of other issues we have had that everyone assures me is not normal that has made procuring materials hard.

Because of all this, the past two days I have had nothing to do. I am worried about my job security if things continue to carry on like this.

Should I ask my boss if there is a chance of me being laid off? Or if they have anything else in the company for me to do until we get back on track? I just don't want to be blindsided if they do have to lay me off.

So... male acquaintance (semi- but not close friend) just asked me out. Sort of invited himself to my apartment along with a female friend after a mutual friend gathering, and said female friend left after awhile and he hung behind when she was gone and had "the talk". I told him I wasn't single (which was true) and I'm dating a woman (also true). He was disappointed but still wants me to go to a concert with him this weekend. We're in a mutual friend group, sort of the only regular friend group I've made since moving to this city relatively recently, and I don't want one fuck up to cut off the whole social outlet for me. Should I go to the concert with him "as friends"? I'm not actually interested in the music... but I'm worried if I don't, this friend group becomes awkward.

Also, the female friend called me after she left because she noticed what was going on. She had been worried about me and thought it was really inappropriate for a guy to invite himself over to a woman's apartment like that and then ask her out late at night all alone in her place (because what if he had been a predator). It didn't peg me as weird, but do you think it's inappropriate for a guy to ask a girl out in that setting, or is she being paranoid?

My work is dumb because the people in charge have never done the jobs that the rest of the employees do and they have no idea what they're doing when they implement new policy. It's so frustrating.

For me, I love fics where guys come in their pants because "It's so hot/They just can't take it!" But url, I think that be really messy to deal with and probably super embarrassing for the dude...
