It happens, things just build up. Think of it as a pressure release (after a literal pressure release).

I have a story about soda. I don't know if will make you feel better or not. When I was a teenager I got a soda, in a can, from the pantry, and so far as I was aware, it had not been dropped or shaken or anything like that. I set it on the dining room table and opened it. It proceeded to shoot soda straight up to the ceiling where some of hit and then came back down to land in one of the fittings in the light fixture above the table causing the light bulb to flare, make a popping noise, and die. Everybody in the family proceeded to stare dumbfounded at first the ceiling, the light, the soda, then me. That stain on the textured white ceiling was still there when my family moved out of the house years later. I can still remember the shape of it.
