Have to agree with OP. There was nothing I picked up from what was actually on screen that made me think Shuri was a teenager. Obviously younger than T'challa, but she didn't track for me as a teen.

I hadn't read the source material that might make her age more explicit, but I was sure surprised at fandom's very loud "She's a teen; leave her alone!" stance.

Agreed - I saw here as early 20s, perhaps 18 or 19 at the youngest. Not a "child" as implied by all the pearl-clutchers. I personally don't ship her with anyone but more power to those who do.

And even if I HAD known the source material, I wouldn't have put much stock in that because it's not like they're super faithful to all the comics anyway.

I work with actual teenagers and she didn't ping me as a teenager at all. I would've guessed 20-21 myself.
