There was a family in my old neighborhood that used to put up a giant light-up lawn menorah every year. To my shiksa mind, it was kind of cool/weird, but I got the impression that their direct neighbors (also Jewish) found it tacky as all get out. In the grand scheme of things, a giant lawn menorah, a Mary statue in half a bathtub, a big ole cross out on the back forty of your farm, or bunch of lawn flamingos facing Mecca don't hurt anyone. Honestly, we'd all be better off if we focused more on how people act in public and less on what they do in their backyards.
