No, but reviews say it is an okay popcorn movie.

All movies are okay popcorn movies. Popcorn is awesome.

Popcorn suffers from massive logistical problems.

The thing is that the ideal way to eat popcorn is to eat a little at a time, spaced out over a long interval. But how the hell are you supposed to do that? You can't stop eating popcorn, so you eat it till you're sick of it and then you're done. You could order a small and then get a refill, but that requires you to leave the theater and also probably spend more money. There's no good answer. What there needs to be is a thing where you get half a thing of medium popcorn at the start of the movie, and then someone comes and gives you the other half when you reach the halfway point of the movie. It's genius.

This is why I love Alamo Drafthouse and Studio Movie Grill. You can order extra food and not get up!

Going to see it with my mom and sister on Sunday.

I saw it.

It was an okay popcorn movie. I read something about it that I agree with - it had very little of the giddiness I look forward to in a heist film. It was clever, at points, everyone acted well and looked good, but it wasn't joyous. Plus, there were some little odd things with pacing and weirdly obvious tricks. I don't think it lived up to its potential.

Ewan McGregor is going to play Danny in Dr. Sleep.

I had *no* clue there was a sequel. Huh.

Bright

I am watching it right now and while I am enjoying it immensely I feel like it would have made a better tv show, more time for exposition, etc.

Also, fuck yeah Noomi Rapace.

Noomi Rapace was in that? Now I need to watch it.

Re: Bright

Ah. I don't follow writers or directors to be honest. What did he do?

Re: Bright

(Anonymous) 2018-06-15 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
On one level, he's just incredibly annoying. Very pretentious without actually knowing what he's talking about. Thinks that everything he touches is a ground-breaking work of staggering genius that no one has ever thought of before even if it's entirely unoriginal, that kind of thing. IIRC, he complained a lot about Bright being changed a lot from his original script and threw the director under the bus.

Also, there's been a ton of rumors and stuff about sexual misconduct and general massive personal dickishness, but nothing totally concrete AFAIK.

Somebody is going to get it, but neither of them should, and I'm not going to acquiesce to it
