It only did that if you got the horrible "good" ending. If you got the normal ending, it was pretty much perfect closure.

I think the problem is that FFX already had closure, and FFX-2 is just a bunch of junk stuck to the end of it.

I will agree with the other people saying that the changes to gameplay and the job system were nice, but there are some stories that are wonderful the way they are and adding even more story to the end (while completely ignoring a lot of the previous characterization) just cheapens them.
