What stupid things does your body do?

(Anonymous) 2018-06-15 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I get a boil in the same spot the week before my period. I've gotten better at managing them but so annoying.

I haaaate that. I get greasy zits on my chin before my period, but the boils (especially the ones in the genital area) are the worst. :(

I always get heartburn after napping. It is aggravating because I love taking my Friday and Saturday nap. Oddly, I don't get them after sleeping.

I get that too.

I also get it if I go too long without sleeping. Or if I drink water on an empty stomach. (ONLY water.)

Before my hysterectomy I used to get evil Cthulu periods from hell, I don't know if that counts.

Give me hot flashes. In summertime. Fuck perimenopause, tbh.

I'm dealing with one of those boils right now, as well as super bad bloating that makes wearing a bra painful. It fucking sucks. I also get a weird, tingly feeling in my scalp when I pluck my eyebrows. No idea why.

Whenever I get nervous, I start sweating like crazy. Like pouring down my face sweating, even in the dead of winter. It's less noticeable in cold or dry weather, but in summer it's just awful and it makes me look like I just ran a marathon or something.

my body clock is fucked up. all I have to do is be told a time of the morning in which someone might be getting up or it might be nice to get up, and my brain latches onto it...and my body wakes me, like clockwork, half an hour before that time. even if I don't have to get up. even if I couldn't fall asleep and only got 5 hours.

on top of that it hot-flashes when I wake up so that I can't go back to sleep. like my internal body temp rises five degrees as a signal that it's going to wake up for real, for good, there is no rolling over and dozing off. in the winter I practically sweat from this temp rise.

Ever since I had a complete hysterectomy back in '14 I've completely lost my heat tolerance (which makes living in Florida that much more of a bitch, let me tell you) and have unbearably intense hot flashes every few minutes. My entire upper body will turn red and I'll feel like someone's dumped boiling water on me. It's bad enough when it happens at home, where I can at least wipe my face and arms down with a cold, wet cloth and sit under a ceiling fan with a few strategically placed ice packs, but it's the absolute worst when I'm in a public place with only a small hand fan to wave frantically in front of my face.

On the upside, my cold tolerance has increased dramatically, and I'll definitely take the hot flashes over the monster endo/PCOS periods I had before the surgery. It doesn't hurt that I've lost 35 lbs. since then, either, whereas before my weight kept steadily increasing despite my best efforts to stop it. Fuckin' PCOS, man.

My left boob always gets super-sensitive the week before my period, it's so fucking annoying and makes sleeping on my left side a bit of a hassle(and that's the side I prefer to sleep on).

Also the increased chance of getting spots on my jawline before my period as well.

My left ankle/foot in particular (sometimes my right) gets all puffy in the heat. NEVER did it before, so fucking annoying. I drink a ton of water and don't consume much salt/sodium, don't have high blood pressure or take meds other than for allergies or headache so - wtf, body.

I thought it was just me, except it's both my feet and heat doesn't seem to be a thing, they just... get bigger? Like every so often my shoes will just feel twice as tight. :[ why.

I’ve got the dumbest pms where just my left ankle hurts. Occasionally my boobs swell, but that ankle’s the bellwether. I consider myself lucky that all my body problems register as dumb and annoying, but geez it’s dumb and annoying.

Migraines and sinus goop and irregular, sometimes months apart periods. Also I started exercising to stop my weight’s steady upward creep and it hasn’t slowed down. It’s not like I’m eating more. My boobs are up a cup size (to FF holy shit) and my stomach looks like I’m due for twins which would be a good trick as I’ve never had sex. And speaking of boobs I finally lost my shit and plucked all my black wiry boob hair which took hours. But sure, doc, I can’t get tested for PCOS because all I have to do is not eat processed food and lose a third of my body weight and it’ll go away.

(warning: gross.) I get a recurring Bartholin's cyst every now and then. Had multiple GP visits and two drainings/catheters done before they went "well this clearly isn't sticking" and did marsupialisation on it. It's never quite as bad as it was before but it's uncomfortable and gross.

Apparently I joked to one of the nurses while high on laughing gas that they'd probably seen my vagina more often than I ever had.

My knees are bad.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-16 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
If I spend too much time standing or sitting in one position, my knees hurt. More than one flight of steps, they start protesting. I need a pillow under or between them for sleep. I get a fair amount of exercise, thanks to my recumbent exercise bike (because walking or running enough to get the same amount is a real no-go), but I do have to wear elastic knee supports. And even with the elastic supports, I have to be wary that I don't stay standing too long when I'm doing my side bends, overhead presses, etc. Movies in the theater were agony before the theaters got the reclining seats (though I did have to learn, last week, crossing my ankles for a fair bit of a movie was a stupid, stupid thing to do).

My face gets really red sometimes randomly. It tends to happen more often in winter, usually when I go from outside to inside (I think some of it could be allergy, since I do have a cold allergy) but it does happen in warm weather too. It's annoying because it makes people always think that I'm upset or mad and I keep having to explain no, I'm fine, my face just does this and I don't know why.
