I think some of the dancers are very talented, but rarely the ones they push to win. The set up of the show + Jennifer Lopez's ego + the fact that only one of the judges is an actual dancer = why it's so overwhelmingly frustrating to watch.

I used to love SYTYCD, too, but Nigel is increasingly creepy as hell to the young female dancers that audition & the only people who ever get genuine credit for their skill are contemporary, so that show's really grated on my nerves over the years, too.

I tried watching like. Two episodes of that show. I really wanted to like it because I loved Derek on DWTS but...

...it just feels kind of fake?

I mean I know reality tv is actually fake. But this felt super fake. I just couldn't give a shit about anybody competing and that includes Fik-shun (maybe particularly Fik-shun because I already know he can dance and followed him all through SYTYCD). Anyway, the show just left a bad taste in my mouth and I couldn't force myself to keep watching. Which is said because I generally love the dance competition shows.
