Side note to #4/YA sequels

(Anonymous) 2018-06-17 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I was going to leave this as a comment, but I don't 100% know what they're referring to. My impression is that they mean sequels to YA novels, maybe adult ones?

In any case, if it is adult sequels, I find they often become way more cynical anyway. I firmly believe that people should just let YA/kid's literature (or movies, or shows) alone. Sometimes it works. It worked with Girl Meets World - not that it was an adult sequel, but we saw adult Topanga, Cory and Shawn. That worked because it wasn't this jaded universe where Topanga and Cory were divorced and Shawn was a meth head. I feel like a lot of sequels make people meth heads. Not literally, you get the idea though.

Is this in the wrong spot?

AYRT: Sorry, I meant to be more clear. It's in the right spot. Like I said, I was going to leave it as a comment, but I wasn't really sure what the SS meant, and I decided in case it was totally off base, I'd make a new thread rather than rambling a non-sequitor.

I think a lot of people have some very odd ideas about what constitutes "adultness".
