Do you believe in ghosts?

Have you ever encountered a ghost? A cryptid? Aliens? Saw/heard something spooky? I'd love to hear your supernatural/unexplainable stories! :)

The only encounter I can say for sure was at a small, haunted inn.

I was hanging out with a bunch of folks outside at like 2 AM while it was raining (it was still winter). The walkway was covered so you could walk around without getting wet. At the center of the inn, basically the corner of the L, there was a second story office with no first floor, so we stood around beneath this office. Everything was fine up until the footsteps started. Very very slow but steady footsteps that went back and forth across what sounded like wooden floor panels above us.

There was no light in that room.

It's possible someone was playing a prank, but that would have taken some serious dedication considering the weather, and how long we were out there. So, nothing really scary or malicious, but more like a residual thing that just randomly happens.

As movies portray them? Nah.

I wish the Loch Ness monster was real but it isn't.

Aliens? Sure. It would be egotistic to think there isn't.

Nope to ghosts or supernatural stuff. Of course spooky stuff happens sometimes, but there's always a logical explanation (whether you know it or not).

It is reasonable to believe that aliens exist somewhere in the universe, though. That's not supernatural hogwash, that's just a matter of probability!

Hrmmm.

I dunno what i believe, re: ghosts. I have had a couple of strange/creepy encounters. I 100 percent believe in non-human life in the universe though - it's just impossible that on all those millions of planets out there, something hasn't evolved like us - or past us - in all this time.

Both of these things happened in my parent's home in the middle of Missouri. The area had a lot of civil war engagements, bivouacs, etc. Our neighbors found buttons and bullets and things all the time. We were out in the woods, no neighbors close enough to see.

The first time, my SO at the time and I were house-sitting for my parents. We were in their bedroom, asleep, when the dog started barking. It was a Yorkie and tended to bark at leaves blowing, so we were both like 'omg, shut up, shut up'. And then the dog was *hysterical* barking, and were looking out of the bedroom door (you could see a bit of hall and a bit of kitchen, the kitchen light was down very low, just a grey sort of glow), and we both felt that *something* was there, and it was really not best pleased. We both sort of clutched at each other and just *stared* and we both felt (we talked later) that something was going to come through that door at any moment. The dog continued to be hysterical for about another minute, and we were both shaking, and then everything kind of...eased off, and the dog shut up, and we felt like it was gone, whatever it was. Unfun.

The other time, my SO was at work, and i was napping on the my parent's couch. They had gone to the grocery, and i sort of woke up when they opened the garage door. I kind of drifted, and then the phone rang and startled the hell out of me, and I sat up and was kind of going 'holy crap'. I could hear my dad talking on the phone. And then I heard a voice say 'I'm *cold*', very small and shaky. It was mid-summer (so not cold in Missouri) and we had no air in that house, so - not my mom or dad. It was a bit freaky.

Mom says she could always hear children laughing and playing outside their house in Kentucky, back in the '60s, except all the neighbors kids were at school and she never saw anyone out there.

I don't believe in ghosts but the universe is too big for this planet to be the only one with some kind of life on it.

A ghost turns on my electric candle each night unless I set it firmly to off.

no. and everything I was told back in my impressionable teenage days about demons and other supernatural things I now look back on with the benefit of 20 years of adulthood and realize it all has natural explanations. sometimes a creaky 100 year old house is just a creaky 100 year old house debra, there's no demons here.

I’ve haven’t had anything super weird/creepy happen to me since I was a little kid and heard a strange man’s voice in the woods when I was talking to trees and assumed one talled back, but I was three or four and assume I actually startled a homeless or camping dude or was being pranked by someone. I don’t remember what they actually said.

I don’t believe in ghosts/spirits/the supernatural, although it would be cool if some stuff like that really existed. I do think aliens exist just because the universe is so freakin’ huge, but I doubt they’re hanging around Earth or even our solar system, because the universe=fucking vast beyond easy visualization. And I imagine life on other planets is way more common than intelligent life on other planets. Unless they find us first, humans’ll probably find alien litchen before we find little green men in UFOs.

I bought a new mobile phone 10+years ago. (Pre-smart phones) It was a new SIM with a new number and I hadn't moved my contacts across yet and noone had the number yet. It was sitting on my bedside cabinet charging while I was on the internet, alone in my parents house.

The phone rang. It was my parents landline calling my new number.

I didn't answer because I was too terrified. Still no idea what the hell happened there.
