This is why I'm grateful that the majority of the fandoms I'm in are for things created specifically for adults, so any kids who try to start shit regardless have nothing to actually stand on & tend to get shut down pretty fast.

Same. Also helps that some of my fandoms are older (we're talking shows that were popular, like, over a decade or two ago), and are also pretty small and wank-free in general.

Obviously I don't doubt some teens frequent my fandoms, sure, but they don't seem to make a big production out of that fact, nor do they harass the adults that are there (and if there has been any of that harassment in my fandoms, it must've happened or is happening somewhere I don't hang out). I just find it sad, as someone who's over 30, to see this kind of attitude out there. I don't ever remember acting like this around any adults in my fandoms back when I was a teenager.
