Yeah, I keep most of my fic to DM these days. But I don't think it's an age or generational thing because I've gotten shit from people of all ages, and I've had a lot of younger people enthusiastically share my kinks.

Sadly I don't think most of them are teens, they're twenty-something's who aren't that far off being 'too old' for fandom themselves.

And it's a strange thing to preach when the media that those people are fannish about and consuming are made by adults... so if adults aren't allowed to enjoy or write about anything then where's that media gonna come from?

Regarding some of the text in the screenshots, it does seem that a certain part of younger generation fandom is all for censorship and banning 'perverted' pairings and porn, and is constantly talking about how trashy AO3 is for allowing anything.

What the heck is wrong with those people ! I've been a few years older than my peers in College (because of multiple reasons). Should I have not be friends with them because of it. And I've already been friends, am friend, with people from a wide range of ages, some younger (not kids, just younger), some my age, and some older than me. Somehow, it never once came to my mind that my older friends, even those way older, were pedophiles. Once, because not everybody has some ulterior sexual intention when they're friend with someone. And two, because I was not a kid. Which make me think that I am so sick of seeing the word "pedophil(ia)" thrown away willy nilly. It's a very serious, very grave, very disgusting thing that applied to people attracted to CHILDREN. Which means, people who haven't reach PUBERTY. It's not an argument toy ! Also, I'm sorry OP and it's great that you're helping people with your work.

This is why I'm grateful that the majority of the fandoms I'm in are for things created specifically for adults, so any kids who try to start shit regardless have nothing to actually stand on & tend to get shut down pretty fast.

I try not to let them spoil my fun but the experience of tumblr kids accusing my generation of being on the level of the bigoted grandma that often made life hell for people like me just because we're not on board with bringing back sex shaming or the chastest possible image of homosexuality, etc. while they enjoy the privilege of wielding the progressiveness that their immediate forebears worked for but only as a convenient tool of sanctimony, makes my blood boil and is honestly a lot more hurtful than I want to admit.

These teenage girls have more hatred for female fans in their 20's than they do for literal pedophilic 40 year old men.

They go through so much effort to dox any woman for daring to enter fandom space and try to ruin their life when they could have used that hatred to look up literal sex offenders in their neighborhood.

I just realized that one big reason I don’t see “you must be a pedophile for shipping this age gap ship” stuff in my corners of fandom is that the age gap is, as it were, on the tin. Also I wasn’t super interested in teen characters except to use as self inserts to ship with older characters when I was a teen. There are a couple of age-gap ships I frothing-at-the-mouth-loathe, but the age gap has jack shit to do with why I think they’re horrifying, and I’ve never sent anon hate in my life.
