John Sheppard. He's not the worst by any means, he's just the first one I think of because everyone else DID love him, and I couldn't stand him.

From Stargate Atlantis? Why do you hate him? He seems pretty inoffensive to me.

Partly because I thought he was smarmy, partly because I felt that the show went out of its way to back up his actions in a way it didn't with other characters. The episode 'Inferno' particularly springs to mind. Mostly I just didn't like him, and both the show and the fandom apparently liking him so very much gradually upgraded the dislike to hatred.
