Adam West will always be who I think of first as Batman.

Same. And Caesar Romero will always be the Joker.

Exactly!

Same.

Their line delivery is amazing.

I know I couldn't do half of that with a straight face. Anyway, yes, it's just so campy and fun.

It's kind of bonkers, but it also works so I can roll with it. Haven't seen an episode in years though.

This show is way more fun than pretty much any show ever. The camp level is off the charts.

Also, ngl, I was hoping this was an OT3 secret, because I remember watching the series when I was 10 and even then I shipped the hell out of Batman/Catwoman/Robin.

I love 60's Batman. My dad used to tape every episode on VHS for me when I was little. My mother made her own Batman and Robin costumes for me and my brother for one of our birthday fancy dress do's. I got way too attached to mine and wore it as much as possible. :>

I enjoy how unabashedly campy it is, honestly. It's genuinely funny, never seems to take itself too seriously, and I totally respect that.

Gotham can be decent at balancing campy and serious, at times, but it's failed more often than not. I rarely ever actually enjoy it (though I keep watching it anyway, if only because I love Batman villains even when they're terribly written + this still manages to contain my favourite version of the Penguin). It's at its worst when it comes to romance, which is a shame considering how often they devote scenes to horribly written relationships.

This is the best version of Batman. By far.

Batgirl and Catwoman. <3

(Anonymous) 2018-06-20 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Great Batgirl, too. I used to ride my bike around pretending it was her motorbike.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-20 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
This show was so bright and fun!

(Anonymous) 2018-06-20 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
I miss Adam West :c

(Anonymous) 2018-06-20 03:00 am (UTC)(link)
It's just so joyful and optimistic and fun <3 Such a nice antitode to the grimdark superhero fare we usually get. And it's sense of humor is delightful.

Frank Gorshin!Riddler is my favorite followed by Catwoman, though all the guest villains were pretty fun for the most part.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-20 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's charming and fun, while Gotham is absolute shit.

This show is comedy gold! I think there was a time when some people got too concerned with whether it was a good depiction of Batman and not whether it was an enjoyable show in its own right. I think that's declined now that we've had plenty of serious depictions of Batman. Hating on the 60s series buys you no street cred whatsoever now.

Frank Gorshin as the Riddler is probably my favorite live-action version of any comic book character ever. He runs around in a unitard and yet somehow remains the most dignified thing on screen, moreso even than Alfred. He's also actually kind of scary, unlike every other batvillain on the show.
