That is annoying

But what's even worse is when they try to turn that into some kind of moral judgment on you as the player, or something like that, for doing the things that they've effectively forced you to do to play their game

I hate that shit, and people who do it think it's so clever, too

Vampyr is one of those games that encourages you to kill people for all sorts of reasons, then gives you the good ending if you never kill anyone. The thing is, there are a lot of times in the game when you have no way to stop a bad person other than killing him. If I’m not supposed to kill the landlord who sexually extorts his tenants, there ought to be some other method of undermining him.

GOD that's just the worst

you can also get a good ending if you only kill a few people. killing the landlord is perfectly fine, lady ashbury still does not die

Playing through Vampyr right now reminds me of the first time I played Dishonored 1; no killing anyone and consequently, making the game to be stilted as heck, and it’s even worse because it’s tied to your exp progress. It’s such a shame because there’s a genuinely good game under all these triple-A syndromes. I haven’t finished it yet, but if they ever make a sequel, I hope they will learn how to juggle moral dilemmas from the guys on Arkane.

I haven't played Vampyr yet, but I always loved playing Dishonored non-lethally? I don't get why people complain about it, since I honestly found it way more fun than my high-chaos playthrough. Maybe it's just because I have a soft spot for any games that allow me non-lethal options in the first place, idk.

NAYRT

I don't have a problem with non-lethal playthoughs at all, I think they're really cool. The things that bother me are if the game narratively rewards you (and/or punishes you) for choosing a non-lethal playthrough (without explicitly making that the point of the game).

So, like, for instance - if the game consistently gives you good or bad endings based on whether you choose lethal or non-lethal options, and ultimately narratively screws you over for choosing one over the other. And it's even more pronounced if the non-lethal playthrough is significantly harder to do.

it's your own fault for not giving him your blood... there was an option where he does not go crazy from being a skal, you just missed it.
