Yeah...I'm glad that temptation is very low for me. Theatres around here mostly show 3D movies, and those are so not my thing. So it's dvd or Netflix for me in any case.

Have you heard of Moviepass?
Or, if you're in Canada https://www.sinemia.com/

I scrolled down to see if anyone was going to mention moviepass. Easily my favorite purchase of 2018.

Same. You can't see the same movie more than once on Moviepass, but that's not too big of a deal. My bff and I got moviepass earlier this year and we are using the heck out of it. Seeing things we wouldn't normally take the time, or spend the money, to see. It's been great.

You're choosing to see Jurassic Park and Avengers multiple times over seeing something new?? SMDH, go see the new thing on the big screen and wait to see thing you've already seen once or twice streaming at home. Incredibles 2 is being reviewed as the best superhero movie of the past decade, and you're going to pass on it to watch the MCU fade into dust again? Do whatever you want, but I think you'll eventually see the movies you passed on (to watch the bullshit blockbusters a second, third and fourth time, I seriously can't get over this choice) on your small computer at home and regret not seeing them in theaters.

+1

Agreed!

if you can afford to see the same few movies multiple times, you and i have different definitions of 'poor'. no shade, you do whatever, but if you're actually poor, that seems to be a bit of an odd move.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-24 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I gotta agree with above comments. I go to movies multiple times too, so no judgment there, but if limited funds means I have to choose between one I want to see and one I've already seen, even if I'm a huge fan, it's not a hard choice at all.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-24 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno, OP. It sounds like you're confusing "poor" with "broke". When I was poor, I couldn't afford to see any movies in theaters and you're talking about seeing movies multiple times. Maybe you can watch each movie once instead. That way, you can see all of them.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-24 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm apparently at a different level of "poor", because I haven't seen any movies in the theater this year, let alone several movies twice.

I having a bit of a hard time understanding this.

I don't see movies in theaters multiple times, myself, but if that's your thing, it's cool. However, choosing to see a movie you've already seen over a great new movie, is just weird to me. But anyway, I've been able to see a bunch of movies because I've got gift cards and I go when the deals are (where I am, if you go to an AMC standard theater showing before noon, it costs $4.76, tax included, for an adult ticket).

I've seen all of those and Jurassic World 2 is definitely not worth watching a second time. It was difficult not being bored even while watching it the first time.

Incredibles 2 was fun but didn't change my world either.

There is a second-run movie theatre near me that charges $2 before 6, $3 after 6, and 3D movies are $1 more. On Mondays 2D movies are $1.50. They have a small bag of popcorn and a small soda for $2 each with $0.50 refills.

I've seen Ready Player One four times and I might go again tomorrow.

(Anonymous) 2018-06-25 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I might have to see if I have a second-run theater near me, because that sounds awesome! Plus, I'd love to see Ready Player again in theaters!

(Anonymous) 2018-06-26 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
frankly i'm judging people who think these movies are good enough to spend money that isn't spare in the first place

(Anonymous) 2018-06-27 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
No movie is worth seeing if you are actually poor. OP should pick one movie to see in the theatre as a treat to save up for and then just be patient rent (or pirate) the rest. OP can maybe split the rental cost with some friends or borrow their DVD. Libraries often do low lost rentals too.

Anyway, I don't think OP actually understands what the word "poor" means.
