Swords are wildly overrated. Spears are way cooler than swords. Guns are also better than swords, not that guns are super cool or anything.

That's why Nuada's weapon in Hellboy:The Golden Army is so awesome. It can be both sword and spear and it's lovely. (The only movie weapon I ever was tempted to buy a replica of.)
