It sort of worked for me, though, because that's how I would expect an alien pretending to be a god would behave. When they went to series, they softened some things, they threw some stuff away, and added new things, like you'd expect, but it was much closer to the movie than Buffy. But, really, I think what got it approved was more the concept than any individual performance.
