172. OMG, A DOSTOYEVSKY SECRET? AND A ONE ABOUT RASKOLNIKOV, NO LESS?

YOU HAVE JUST MADE MY NIGHT. [/sorry for the caps, I'm a fangirl for this kind of stuff, I can't help it]

I wouldn't worry too much about relating to Raskolnikov...he wasn't a completely bad person-misguided and a megalomaniac, but D. gives us some reasons why he's doing what he does and shows that he does have the capacity for compassion...Besides, there are worse people you can relate to, yes?

And heck yes to Raskolnikov/Razumikhin. Have you read that one lonely R/R fanfic yet?

176. OMG, the Governator is a sparkly vampire. :O What an awesomely weird mental image.

You mean the only one in existance? Why yes, yes I have. (There really needs to be more active fandom. Not too much, but a little more would be nice? Death Note pales in comparison, yet its fandom is, albeit somewhat abstractly, the size of Russia.)

Yeah, sadly. I could attempt to write one, but then again I'm too afraid of writing them OOC (maybe that's why there's only one out there? :P), and besides, I'm more of a gen-writer.

Agreed-there needs to be a fandom, period. D: Most classic literature don't have fandoms, unless a movie or a musical comes out, which is a sad fact. (Though I think, if placed in the right hands, a Crime and Punishment musical would be cool. But it can also turn out a diaster as well.) I know that Les Mis had a thriving fandom back in the day, not too active now, but there's some things going on.

Death Note was very good for the shonen genre and is a step above most mainstream, large-fandom series (and I must give it props for making me seek more intelligent anime), but I also agree that it's lighter fare compared to C+P. A lot of the people are just as bad as those scary fans that you'd more so expect be in the Naruto fandom. Frankly, I think some Death Note fans proclaim to be so because it makes them look smart. :/ I do recommend Crime and Punishment when asked to suggest series that are like Death Note. Some might complain about how long-winded the style is, but geez, they survived Light's and L's thinking process monologues.

Actually, I think they were just looking at the pictures. At least, the hyper, shouldn't-you-be-reading-Naruto-right-now fans would just look at the pictures. And I have met a lot of people who would outright refuse to read C+P, simply because it is a book. (Yes, they are very fail people.)

Ahh, classical literature would have a fun fandom! Victorian teenaged girls sending telegraphs (Victorian internets, anyone?) to their friends about how much of a hawt dandy captain Nemo was (despite him most likely not being a dandy). On second thought, no. It would possibly be very painful. (And then there would certainly be the kids who think they're so high and mighty because they read Animal Farm and seemingly understood what it was talking about. Ohh, but that would also be fun! D: We need a fandom! Quick, fetch the musical writers! (Actually, I once wrote a musical for Mein Kampf, for English. I never got to perform it, but it was fun! Sort of like Springtime for Hitler, except with puppets and not quite as professional. Not that that was related.)

Or possibly just for the yaoi as well, since the majority of characters are male and the main characters don't show any affinity towards any women other than manipulation and association.
Woooooow. :/ [/sarcasm] Refusing to read C+P because it's a book? I really have nothing else to say other than that's pretty sad. Still, it's not discouraging me from working on my Raskolnikov/Light comparison essay (I've written a discussion post a long time ago about that, but it was pretty bad).

That image of Nemo fangirls (telegraphs as internets = win) is pretty funny. And they would have ship wars, too! Like Charles Darnay x Lucie Manette vs. Sydney Carton x Lucie Manette (despite the fact that he died, but then again nothing can stop shippers! xP ). Yeah, it would be painful sometimes, but then again all fandoms will have insipid people, there's no foolproof way to eliminate them.

Haha, that sounds interesting. The idea of a Hitler puppet amuses me more than it should.
